Q. Can anyone have a treatment? A. There are very few situations where it is inappropriate to treat. Where there is any doubt, I always advise my clients to speak to their GP.
Q. My feet are ticklish! A. I have treated many clients, I have yet to have a client who was too ticklish to have treatment.
Q. Will the treatment hurt? A. Sometimes reflexes are sensitive, this will indicate that those parts of the body are congested or out of balance. Pressure will be adjusted as necessary.
Q. How many treatments will I need to have? A. The initial consultation will help assess the number of sessions required and their frequency. Every person is unique and so are their reasons for seeking reflexology. Improvement may be seen in a short period of time or it may take a number of weeks to see significant benefits if the presenting problem has been a long-term issue. Generally however, 4-6 weekly treatments are recommended to get a good sense of the individuals response to reflexology.
Q. I'm sceptical about complementary therapies - would it work on me? A. Yes, you do not have to believe in it to benefit from it.
Q. How can I expect to feel after a treatment? A. After one or two treatments your body may respond in a very definate way. Most people note a sense of well-being and relaxation; "walking on air" is a phrase often used after a treatment. Sometimes people report feeling lethargic, nauseous or tearful, but this is only temporary and is part of the healing process. Everyone is different - every outcome is different.
(This is vital information to feed back to the therapist as it shows how your body is responding to treatment and will help the therapist to tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs)
Q. Should I do anything to prepare for my session? A. Try to let go of your stress, relax and think about how wonderful it's going to feel. Leave your worries behind and really experience total relaxation......

"My husband and I had been trying to conceive for two years without success. I am in my mid-thirties so I knew that it would maybe take some time, but after two years it was taking over my every waking thought. I started to see Alison after being told that reflexology was good for problems conceiving. She advised me that it would be a good idea to treat my husband as well, so we both began to receive regular treatments. Amazingly after just 6 treatments I discovered I was pregnant! Sadly I lost the baby - but 12 months later I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl." Elaine, Northfleet, Kent |
